Bring your lawn chairs and blankets for Fort Sheridan's first ever outdoor movie night! The Historic Commission came up with this great idea and will show a classic comedy, filmed in Chicago and Highland Park. For licensing reasons, we are not supposed to advertise the title, but it is a 1986 movie, rated pg-13 at the time. Hint: Shake it up baby now, twist and shout! Concessions will be available for purchase, proceeds to benefit the Fort Sheridan Historical Society.
Fort Sheridan residents are urged to avoid heading northbound on Sheridan Road (do not take a right out of Fort Sheridan) from June 6-12.
The City of Lake Forest has announced that the railroad and bike path bridges on Westleigh Road are scheduled for maintenance Monday, June 6 to Saturday, June 12. To ensure safety for all vehicular traffic under the bridge, the associated section of Westleigh Road at the two viaducts between Western Avenue to the west and Sheridan Road to the east will be closed for the week. Road closure barricades and detour signage will be in place starting at 6 a.m. June 6th.
To travel northbound residents should take Old Elm to Green Bay Road then turn north to proceed into Lake Forest and other points north.
On Sunday, May 15, 2016 at 11:00 a.m., there will be a “Change of Command” ceremony held on the South end of the Fort Sheridan Parade Field along Leonard Wood Drive. The Change of Command Ceremony is deeply rooted in military tradition and symbolizes passing the responsibilities of command and maintaining an unbroken succession of command for a military unit.
This event is open to the public and residents of the Town of Fort Sheridan are welcome to attend.
